EA Confirms CFB’25
College Football 25 marked the long-awaited return of the iconic franchise since the release of NCAA Football 14, introducing a fresh element with the inclusion of name, image, and likeness (NIL) rights in the game. This innovation allowed real players, complete with accurate ratings and appearances, to be featured in the game. The cover athletes—Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, Michigan running back Donovan Edwards, and Colorado wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter—were all current players. Hunter went on to win the Heisman Trophy, while Ewers led the Longhorns to the College Football Playoff semifinals, and Edwards’ Wolverines earned a spot in the ReliaQuest Bowl with a 7-5 record.
The game featured actual players, realistic stadiums, and immersive game modes like Dynasty and Road to Glory, contributing to its commercial success.
According to the Sports Business Journal, EA Sports College Football 25 became the best-selling sports game ever released in the U.S., reflecting the immense popularity of college football and the game’s ability to capture the excitement and tradition that makes the sport so beloved. Its immediate success was no surprise, and it’s set to return for a second year.
Although an official release date has yet to be announced, the game will be available next summer, just in time for the 2025 college football season.
